After focusing so much on my completed novel – After the Break – during SiWC and the weeks leading up to it I wasn’t sure I was going to be mentally ready to write a new book during NaNoWriMo.
I had the novel roughly sketched out in my head and had written some introductory paragraphs but it was pretty bare bones. After briefly considering passing this year I decided to go for it. I’m a Pantser anyways so why would this be any different than the last time?
And I am so glad I took the plunge. 3 days in and I have written more than my goal each day and am already sitting at 5,800 words! It’s taken all of my willpower not to edit as a write but that seems be easier this time around. All of it’s easier really.
SiWC seems to have to given me the confidence in myself as a writer that I didn’t even know I needed. I’ve always considered myself a writer at heart but now I really feel like one. I know this process works – NaNoWriMo 2015 was where I wrote the bulk of After the Break – and so I’m ready to commit to it.
Looking forward to writing every day this month and seeing what I have at the end of November. Good luck to all my other NaNo’s out there…go forth and write all the words!
First day of #NaNoWriMo17 done. & 1,675 words written. Not sure about the quality..but they are out of my head & on the page. #amwriting pic.twitter.com/T4LjT89UYX
