In This Together

Since Can’t Take It Back first came out, I’ve had several people ask about what happened next for Holly, Zoe, Avery & Sasha. And while I’d never considered writing a sequel, I have to admit to being a little curious myself, so I decided to see what these women had to say. It wasn’t hard to get pulled back into their world and this novella just poured out of me. I love it and hope you do too.

Four years after the events that shook their lives to the core, the women of Can’t Take It Back return to their rental beach house in Seaside for a long overdue girls weekend.

Nothing about Sasha’s life resembles what it did four years ago. She loves her husband and son but feels the grip of postpartum depression tightening. Surely if she can handle the high-powered PR world, she can handle a little depression. Right? Holly is still adjusting to life on her own and Jake’s pleas for reconciliation are slowly wearing her down. Just as she’s ready to say the devil she knows is better than the devil she doesn’t, a new man catches her eye.

From the outside, Zoe’s life looks the most unchanged, but she can’t help wondering if she settled. Everything is okay, except for the lump she found in her breast and has decided to ignore. While life in Portland is good, Avery is excited to spend a weekend with her Seattle friends but feels like an outsider. Could this weekend be the last one she spends with them?

As the four of them settle into a routine of relaxation, their secrets begin to reveal themselves leading to heartfelt confessions and emotional confrontations. Then one of the women gets a shocking text message from a loved one. Too far from home to do anything, the women must rely on the strength of their friendship as they face the unimaginable together.
